Lazarus Group Hack Exceeds $30 Million From Upbit, Signaling Continued Crypto Threat

The Lazarus Group, a North Korean cybercrime organization believed to be backed by the nation’s government, has been implicated in a major cryptocurrency heist from South Korea’s Upbit exchange. The group allegedly stole approximately $30 million worth of Solana-based tokens from the exchange’s hot wallet, following a breach likely linked to a period of heightened activity surrounding Upbit’s parent company, Dunamu, merging with tech giant Naver. This incident follows a previous Lazarus attack on Upbit in 2019 where $41 million was stolen from the exchange.
