To stimulate consumer demand, China’s government has issued a plan emphasizing the use of AI and blockchain technology in digital platform development. This initiative aims to leverage these technologies to create immersive and engaging consumer experiences across various digital platforms. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) spearheaded this plan, with support from six other governmental bodies. 6 key areas will be addressed: 1) AI-powered solutions to improve platform consumption; 2) Emphasize compliance and user preferences for a safe and trustworthy marketplace; 3) Reimagine consumer-oriented technology development through digital platforms. This move aims to transform the landscape of consumer goods supply and demand matching. The plan encourages the use of technologies like AI, blockchain, metaverse, and NFT assets to enhance consumer experiences across digital platforms. These technologies will reshape the traditional retail experience by incorporating innovative concepts such as virtual reality (VR) and the metaverse. 2023 saw a surge in live-streaming e-commerce fueled by similar guidelines, highlighting the potential for this strategy to drive market growth.
