Thailand Orders Global Data Deletion Amid Privacy Concerns

The Thai government has ordered the global data deletion project ‘World’, spearheaded by Sam Altman, to remove over 1.2 million records collected within the country. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society under Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC), issued a directive for World to cease operations in Thailand. An expert panel examining potential violations of Thai data protection laws has determined that collecting biometric information for cryptocurrency is unlawful. This led World to discontinue its iris-scanning activities in Thailand.
