U.S. Economic Growth Predicted to Accelerate Slightly in 2026

A recent survey by the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) suggests that U.S. economic growth is anticipated to accelerate slightly next year, with experts predicting a median GDP growth of 2%, an increase from the October forecast of 1.8%. This acceleration is attributed to increased personal spending and business investment, according to the report, but new import tariffs imposed during the Trump administration are projected to dampen growth by at least 0.25 percentage points. Nearly all experts agree that tariffs will be a significant downside risk to the U.S. economic outlook.
