Major Banks Receive Data Breach Warning From SitusAMC

Financial institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Citibank, and Morgan Stanley have been notified by technology provider SitusAMC about a potential cyberattack that has compromised their client data. SitusAMC confirmed the attack on November 12th after it was targeted by hackers. This breach impacts residential mortgage loan information provided to several banks and lending institutions through SitusAMC’s services. SitusAMC CEO Michael Franco stated that law enforcement is actively investigating, while efforts are underway to understand the extent of the compromised data. The FBI Director Kash Patel highlighted collaboration with affected companies to assess the breach’s impact, but no operational disruptions to banking services have been reported so far. While SitusAMC does not provide direct financial services, it holds significant amounts of personal data from loan applications. This includes sensitive information like social security numbers. Furthermore, due to its regulatory compliance services, the company may possess further sensitive internal data regarding banks’ real estate assets and associated risks.
