Vodacom Plots Move to Increase Stake in Safaricom

Vodacom Group is exploring a potential acquisition of part of the Kenyan government’s stake in Safaricom, Africa’s leading telecom company. The move comes as Vodacom seeks to bolster its control over Safaricom and expand its presence in the East African region. Currently, Vodacom holds nearly 40% of the company, but is exploring ways to increase this share by acquiring a portion of the Kenyan government’s 34.9% holding.
