Nigeria’s power generation reached a new high in October 2025, fueled by robust demand and a growing economy. According to data released by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), the nation generated an impressive 5,506 megawatts (MW) across its grid-connected plants nationwide. This marked a significant increase of 60% compared to September 2025. The commission attributed this surge to expanding decentralized applications and increased investment from both individuals and institutions. 4,290 MW was ultimately distributed for usage, representing an efficient use rate of 78%. A closer look at the breakdown reveals a robust generation distribution across the 18 plants operating in the grid. Egbin, Delta, Kainji, and Zungeru lead with 80% of the total output. This impressive performance was further highlighted by NERC’s data indicating a 40% share of the national capacity.
