CryptoPunk Seller Pleads Guilty for Failing to Report NFT Sales

A recent court case has highlighted the growing scrutiny of NFTs in the US, as Waylon Wilcox, an NFT trader, pleaded guilty to submitting false tax returns for his substantial profits from selling CryptoPunks. He is accused of neglecting to file income tax returns on over $13 million earned through 97 unique CryptoPunk sales between 2021 and 2022. Wilcox claimed to have sold 62 Punks in 2021 and another 35 in 2022, resulting in the reported earnings.
