Bitcoin Fraudster Zhimin Qian Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison

Zhimin Qian, also known as Yadi Zhang, a notorious cryptocurrency scammer, has been sentenced to over eleven years in prison for leading a Ponzi scheme that defrauded over 128,000 victims. The case, which is being hailed as one of the largest ever in Britain, saw the seizure of 61,000 bitcoins – equivalent to over $6 billion at today’s prices – and reveals the significant scale of illicit activity within the cryptocurrency industry. Zhimin Qian lived a luxurious life under aliases while operating her fraudulent scheme between 2014 and 2017 before eventually being apprehended in 2024.
