Iran’s Digital Economy Goals Rest on Cryptocurrency Adoption: Parliament Speaker

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf underscored the significance of cryptocurrency adoption for achieving the country’s digital economy targets during a blockchain event last week. He highlighted the urgency of developing a national roadmap for crypto assets, referencing Iran’s latest National Development Plan which aims to have the digital economy constitute 10% of the overall economy. Ghalibaf warned that failing to embrace cryptocurrency will hinder the attainment of these goals. He urged collaboration between government bodies including the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the central bank, and other relevant entities to ensure a well-regulated development of this sector.
