EchoStar Struggles with Q3 Losses, Driven by $12.78B Write-Down

EchoStar Corporation reported a major revenue shortfall for its third quarter of 2025, reaching just $3.61 billion compared to the expected $3.76 billion. This decline was primarily attributed to drops in both pay-TV and broadband & satellite services segments. Pay-TV revenue fell to $2.34 billion from $2.62 billion year over year, while broadband and satellite services decreased to $345.8 million from $386.7 million. However, the company’s Wireless segment remained strong, increasing its revenue to $939 million, fueled by 223,000 new subscribers and an average revenue per user increase of 2.6%. The Q3 net loss was a staggering $12.78 billion, driven largely by a one-time write-down of $16.48 billion for abandoned 5G assets. This resulted in EPS of -$44.37, significantly missing the anticipated -$1.21.
