OpenAI Unveils New AI Models: Replacing GPT-4 with Enhanced Versions

OpenAI has announced plans to replace its flagship language model, GPT-4, with a more advanced iteration known as GPT-4o starting April 30th. While GPT-4 will remain accessible via API access, this new version is poised to deliver significantly enhanced capabilities in areas like writing, coding, and STEM-related tasks. According to The Verge, OpenAI will unveil a series of innovative AI models next week, including the upgraded GPT-4.1, a multimodel model built upon GPT-4o. This expansion further involves introducing smaller versions like GPT-4.1 mini and nano, as well as specialized ‘reasoning’ model named o3 and its companion model o4-mini.
