U.S. Lawmakers Prepare for Cryptocurrency Regulation Expansion

US House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson met with CFTC Acting Chair Caroline D. Pham on Thursday to discuss plans for expanding cryptocurrency regulations in the coming year. These discussions are part of broader efforts aimed at drafting new rules, with a market structure bill expected to be passed. Last week, Acting Chair Pham also held meetings with Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Senator John Boozman to address these same issues. Notably, the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee is expected to release a bipartisan draft regarding cryptocurrency market structure regulations soon.
