India’s Gen Z Takes Charge: Crypto Investment Soars as Millennials Fall Behind

Gen Z, India’s fastest-growing crypto investor group, has overtaken millennials in a seismic shift. CoinSwitch’s latest report reveals that 37.6% of Indian investors are under 25, edging past the previously dominant 26–35 year old demographic (37.3%). This surge marks a turning point for India’s crypto landscape as younger generations take charge. The report highlights how Gen Z’s familiarity with online platforms like UPI and fintech apps has facilitated their embrace of crypto, making it feel natural rather than novel. While millennials wait for clearer regulatory guidance from the government, Gen Z isn’t holding back; they are jumping in and embracing early opportunities. 36-45 year olds now represent only 17.8% of Indian crypto investors, highlighting the clear generational shift.
