Standard Chartered predicts a significant growth in the tokenized asset market, with a projected value of $2 trillion for real-world assets (RWAs) within the next three years. This surge is driven by the increasing adoption of blockchain technology across global finance and payment systems. The report highlights how decentralized finance (DeFi) could challenge established financial institutions (TradFi) controlled by central entities. Standard Chartered anticipates a massive shift in capital towards tokenized RWAs, including a notable increase in money market funds, equity tokens, and private equity investments. Specifically, the forecast projects $750 billion will flow into money market funds, followed by $750 billion into tokenized U.S. equities, $250 billion into tokenized U.S. funds, and another $250 billion towards less liquid private equity segments like commodities, corporate debt, and real estate tokens.
