Proposal Aims to Halt Crypto & Stock Trades for Trump, Congressional Members

A U.S. lawmaker is proposing a sweeping ban that would prohibit former President Donald Trump, his family, and all members of Congress from trading cryptocurrencies or stocks. The proposal comes as concerns over potential conflicts of interest linked to Trump’s alleged involvement in a crypto project linked to his son continue to grow. Representative Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California’s 17th Congressional District and vice-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, made this recommendation during an interview on MSNBC. Khanna accused Trump of corruption following the recent pardon of Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao, who pleaded guilty last year for violating the U.S. Bank Secrecy Act. He cited Zhao’s financial ties to World Liberty Financial (WLFI) as a cause for concern, arguing it created a clear conflict of interest.
