A North Carolina resident, Brandon LaRoque, has become a victim of significant crypto theft. According to reports from Foresight News, his ELLIPAL cold wallet was compromised, resulting in the loss of over 1.2 million XRP – worth approximately $3 million. LaRoque detailed the incident in a video showcasing the perpetrator’s swift action in transferring the funds. Initially, a small amount of XRP was sent as a test before 1.29 million more were transferred within just two minutes. Following this initial transfer, the stolen funds were moved to a new wallet and then dispersed into roughly 30 different wallets, each receiving between 38,000 to 40,000 XRP. The remaining funds were further distributed in a money-laundering style to around 500-900 individual wallets. LaRoque has reported the theft to authorities, aiming to recover the stolen cryptocurrency.
