Standard Chartered Predicts Stablecoins to Replace Bank Deposits in Emerging Markets

Standard Chartered predicts a major shift in emerging markets, anticipating up to $1 trillion in deposits could transition to stablecoins over the next three years. This prediction stems from stablecoins’ ability to provide access to dollar exposure without requiring traditional banking infrastructure. The bank highlights that for users in these regions, stablecoins have effectively become ‘dollar-denominated bank accounts’. These predictions come as a result of global demand for stability and safety, with even the US GENIUS Act impacting adoption.
