Crypto Hack Losses Plummet in Q3 2025; September Sees Record Million-Dollar Attacks

Despite a significant decrease in crypto hack losses overall, September 2025 witnessed a concerning surge of million-dollar attacks. The third quarter saw a substantial decline in hacking incidents, with $509 million stolen, down 37% from the previous quarter and nearly 70% lower than Q1’s record losses of $1.7 billion. This decrease was largely attributed to a reduction in large-scale exploits. However, September provided a stark reminder that attackers are evolving their tactics, targeting wallets and central exchanges more frequently. The month recorded 16 million-dollar hacks, exceeding the previous record set in March 2024.
