A critical bug affecting the XRP Ledger (XRPL) has prompted a recommended rollback to version 2.5.1 of the rippled software. Following issues with version 2.6.0, which introduced enhancements but also raised concerns about stalled consensus detection and memory usage, XRPL validators are being advised to downgrade for improved network stability. The update aims to address a critical bug related to consensus rounds, leading to false positives in certain situations where transactions were not disputed. The XRPL team is committed to addressing remaining issues from version 2.6.0 in future releases to enhance network performance. For immediate stability, validators are encouraged to update to 2.5.1 or downgrade if necessary. Alloy Networks, an XRPL infrastructure provider, has issued a warning urging users to downgrade while the team plans to address more of the issues related to version 2.6.0 in future updates. The rollback aims to resolve the stalled consensus bug for smoother operations on the XRPL.
