Polygon Faces Delays in Consensus Finality, Raising Scaling Concerns

A recent bug impacting Bor and Erigon nodes in Polygon’s infrastructure caused temporary delays in consensus finality. Validators and RPC providers experienced delays of up to 15 minutes, highlighting scaling challenges for the Layer-2 network. While engineers swiftly resolved the issue, it exposed weaknesses in node coordination during real-world stress tests. This incident underscores the difficulty of maintaining both high throughput and reliability on Polygon as they strive for continued growth, particularly with their upcoming POL upgrade and zkEVM development.
