CFTC Exploring Recognition of Foreign Crypto Exchanges in US

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is examining a significant development in the US cryptocurrency industry. Acting Chair Caroline Pham has indicated potential to allow foreign cryptocurrency exchanges to operate within the US, provided they adhere to stringent regulations similar to Europe’s MiCA framework. This proposal would follow on from previous initiatives allowing some foreign exchanges to register as Foreign Boards of Trade (FBOTs), granting direct access to US investors. The CFTC recently announced this potential pathway for overseas trading platforms seeking recognition under US regulatory frameworks.
