CFTC Exploring International Regulations for Crypto Platforms

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is considering a new approach to regulate international crypto exchanges, according to news from Foresight News and FOX Business. Acting Chair Caroline D. Pham has indicated the agency aims to recognize overseas platforms adhering to robust cryptocurrency regulations like the EU’s MiCA framework under the U.S. cross-border regulatory framework. This follows the CFTC’s recent reaffirmation of its Foreign Board of Trade (FBOT) framework, which allows certain non-U.S. crypto trading platforms already regulated by foreign authorities to register as FBOTs with the CFTC. This enables them to provide direct access to U.S. traders.
