FCCPC Launches Enforcement Measures to Curb Harassment & Data Abuse by Loan Apps

Nigeria’s Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has launched enforcement measures in response to concerns about loan app practices. The Digital, Electronic, Online, or Non-Traditional Consumer Lending Regulations (2025) aim to address violations such as data privacy breaches and unethical debt collection methods, which have led to public harassment and emotional distress among borrowers. FCCPC’s new regulation addresses exploitative lending, data theft, abusive recovery tactics, harassment, and anti-competitive behavior within Nigeria’s booming digital credit market.
