Binance Tax Evasion Trial Postponed to April 2025

A Nigerian court has delayed the tax evasion trial of Binance until April 30, 2025, due to procedural delays in the case. The original hearing date was set for April 7, and Binance is contesting allegations from the Nigerian Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) regarding their failure to fulfill tax obligations, including corporate income tax and value-added tax (VAT). FIRS alleges billions of naira in unpaid taxes. Binance maintains that they are in full compliance with Nigerian regulations. Representatives for Binance requested more time during the initial hearing on April 7th to review evidence presented by FIRS, which resulted in a postponement. The delay stems from Binance’s request for more time to review provided evidence from the FIRS, and the court needs time to conduct a thorough examination of the case. Binance’s attorney, Chukwuka Ikwuazom, also argues that the legal documents were served improperly by the FIRS as they are registered in the Cayman Islands with no physical presence in Nigeria.
