Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) Executive Director Yeh Wai-ching and Legislative Council member Ng Kit-chung have been removed from the guest list of the Bitcoin Asia Summit, scheduled for August 28-29. Both officials withdrew after receiving guidance to avoid contact with Eric Trump, who is slated as a keynote speaker at the event. Initial plans had included Yeh and Ng as speakers, but their withdrawal came amid advice to stay clear of Trump due to business ties. While SFC stated Yeh’s absence was due to a pre-planned trip, Ng cited personal reasons for his withdrawal. Sources close to the summit indicate that the Hong Kong government may be attempting to avoid any appearance of collaboration or support towards Eric Trump, suggesting the directive is aimed at preventing him from being seen as an ally.
