Metaplanet Invests $837 Million in Bitcoin Through Share Issuance

Metaplanet, a Tokyo-based firm listed on the stock exchange, is planning a major expansion of its Bitcoin holdings through an international share offering. The company intends to raise approximately $837 million by issuing up to 555 million new shares, with nearly all proceeds earmarked for Bitcoin purchases between September and October. This move comes amid concerns regarding Japan’s national debt and currency fluctuations, prompting a shift away from traditional safe-haven assets.
