Iran’s Cryptocurrency Inflows Drop Amid Geopolitical Tensions and Cybersecurity Challenges

Iran’s cryptocurrency transactions have experienced a notable decline in 2025, according to blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs. This reduction is attributed to several factors, including the breakdown of nuclear negotiations with Israel, a significant hack on Iran’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Nobitex, which reportedly resulted in $90 million in losses, and Tether’s freezing of numerous wallets. Data from January to July reveals a 11% decrease in Iranian cryptocurrency traffic compared to the same period last year, with substantial drops observed during June and July.
