Gemini, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange, has launched its new XRP credit card, attracting mixed reactions from the community. The card offers cash back rewards of 4% on specific categories, including gas, EV charging, and public transport, as well as 3% on dining and 2% on groceries. However, the XRP community is expressing disappointment due to the lack of unique features or benefits compared to existing offerings. Some are comparing it to a re-branded card with an ‘XRP’ logo added. This launch follows Gemini’s earlier announcement in March that provided up to 4% cashback rewards, which had already been utilized by many clients. Gemini claims their decision for an XRP-specific card stems from the impressive gains of the token over the past year, citing $73,700 worth of rewards transformed into a substantial amount of $407,000. CEO Tyler Winklevoss emphasizes that this new card offers a platform for XRP community members to demonstrate their enthusiasm. Meanwhile, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse expresses optimism about simplifying and making crypto more accessible through the card’s launch.
