Thailand’s Exports Soar 11%, Defying U.S. Tariffs

Thailand’s exports have experienced a significant surge in July, surpassing expectations and reaching new record highs. This strong growth is attributed to market anticipation of the upcoming US tariffs, as importers rushed orders ahead of the implementation date. The Commerce Ministry reports that exports increased by 11 percent year-on-year in July, exceeding the projected rate of 9.6% from a Reuters poll. While this trend is expected to moderate in the latter part of 2025 following the introduction of the tariffs, the initial robust performance suggests a positive outlook for the Thai economy.
