This purchase is part of the company’s ongoing accumulation strategy initiated in April 2024. According to Metaplanet President Simon Gerovich, the company has invested a total of $1.95 billion, with an average acquisition cost of $102,712, to build its Bitcoin reserve. The news also comes with a significant milestone – Metaplanet was included in the FTSE Japan Index, upgrading from small to medium scale, marking a key step towards becoming a leading Bitcoin treasury in the country. This upgrade signifies growing institutional interest in the company’s approach.
