Ledger Identifies Unpatchable Security Flaw in Solana Phones, Raising Concerns About Crypto Storage

Ledger has discovered a serious vulnerability within the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip used in Solana phones. This unfixable flaw allows attackers physical access to extract sensitive information like private keys from these devices, raising significant concerns about crypto security. The vulnerability was identified through electromagnetic fault injection (EMFI) testing and confirmed by Ledger’s engineers Léo Benito and Charles Christen. This discovery highlights the risks associated with using general-purpose smartphones for cryptocurrency storage.
