Japan Takes Action to Improve Government Efficiency with New Department

The Japanese government has launched its own initiative to enhance efficiency, introducing the ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ (DOGE). During its inaugural meeting on December 2nd, DOGE will focus on identifying and streamlining inefficient tax measures and subsidies. This marks a significant step towards optimizing government operations, according to Finance Minister Katsuyuki Katayama, who emphasized that efforts to combat waste and channel funds toward essential areas will distinguish this administration from previous ones.
