Bolivia Extends Fintech Deadline, Now April 2026

Bolivia’s Financial System Supervisory Authority (ASFI) has extended the deadline for fintech companies to comply with regulations to April 30, 2026. Previously set for December 31, 2025, the new timeframe applies to companies operating in the fintech space, including cryptocurrency exchanges. The ASFI released Resolution No. 1203/2025 revealing a slow start, with only 11 companies having submitted letters of intent as of November 2025. None have entered the controlled testing environment (ECP). Bolivia lifted its ban on cryptocurrencies in June 2024 and is currently establishing its regulatory framework for fintech firms. Failure to comply within this extended timeframe will result in companies being prohibited from operating, promoting themselves as authorized fintech firms.
