IRYS Airdrop Investigation Uncovers Suspicious Activity, $4 Million Disappears

The IRYS airdrop launch is facing scrutiny after on-chain analytics platform Bubblemaps discovered suspicious activities potentially skewing the token distribution process. The platform revealed unusual wallet behavior around the time of the airdrop launch. A coordinated network of 900 new wallets funded by crypto exchange Bitget showed striking similarities and claimed a significant portion (20%) of the total IRYS supply immediately following launch. These wallets, linked to suspicious clusters, then quickly moved their tokens to new wallets before transferring them to Bitget where $4 million worth of IRYS tokens were sent. Bubblemaps’ investigation is ongoing, with its Intel Desk inviting community involvement for further analysis. This incident raises concerns about the fairness of the airdrop distribution process. Previous incidents involving aPriori (APR) token distribution also highlight similar tactics used by coordinated groups to manipulate airdrops and drain supplies, leaving legitimate participants at a disadvantage.
