Ethereum Gas Limit Increased to 60 Million, Boosting Transaction Capacity

Ethereum’s gas limit has been raised to 60 million, a move driven by community initiative and designed to enhance network scalability. This adjustment, spearheaded by Ethereum Foundation researcher Toni Wahrstätter, is anticipated to benefit DeFi protocols and Layer 2 solutions through reduced congestion and increased throughput. The increase follows a year-long effort fueled by over 513,000 validators, preparing the platform for upcoming upgrades like Fusaka. Vitalik Buterin and Toni Wahrstätter spearheaded this initiative, aiming to support scalability and enhance the evolving ecosystem. This enhanced capacity is expected to bolster DeFi’s growth while improving overall network efficiency.
