Qilin Ransomware Group Hits South Korean IT Firm in Major Data Breach

A major data breach has affected GJTec, a prominent South Korean IT service provider, after Qilin ransomware was deployed in a supply chain attack. The attack resulted in the theft of 2TB of data, including an estimated one million files. This breach has impacted 28 financial companies, as per reports from PANews. Bitdefender analysis suggests that this incident is linked to the North Korean-backed APT group ‘Moonstone Sleet,’ which is believed to be collaborating with the Russian-speaking Qilin organization. The attack appears intended to exert pressure on the South Korean financial market.
