US Core PCE Expected to Rise with CPI, Potentially Signaling Weakening Inflation

Wall Street Journal reporter Nick Timiraos, widely recognized as the ‘Fed Whisperer,’ has provided insights on social media regarding the anticipated increase in September’s core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE). Following the release of September’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) data, analysts expect a rise in the core PCE by approximately 0.22%, aligning closely with the core CPI for the same month. This anticipated increase would likely result in a lower year-over-year inflation rate of 2.8% if it falls below this level.
