Thailand Orders World Project to Delete Data Over Privacy Concerns

Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has issued a directive to the data project “World” led by Sam Altman, requiring the deletion of over 1.2 million collected records in the country. The order came from the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC), which also instructed World to cease operations within Thailand. An expert panel investigating potential violations of Thailand’s data protection laws concluded that collecting biometric data while offering cryptocurrency is illegal. This led World to suspend its activities in Thailand.
