Ethereum Targets Efficiency Gains Through Optimized Gas System

To address growing network demands and optimize for efficiency, Ethereum is introducing a targeted optimization approach to its gas system. This involves a significant increase in the gas limit by five times while also implementing a fivefold rise in gas costs for operations that are computationally expensive on-chain. These include storage operations like SSTORE, certain SSTORE transactions, precompiles (excluding elliptic curve ones), large contract calls, complex arithmetic instructions, and calldata. This strategy aims to boost overall network throughput without hindering the performance of essential functions.
