A Canadian family suffered a horrific ordeal in April 2024 when they were subjected to a violent home invasion. Four masked assailants, posing as postal workers, attacked the family’s residence. The parents were subjected to torture, including waterboarding and physical assault, while their 18-year-old daughter was forced to endure sexual exploitation by being coerced into taking nude photographs. This brutal 13-hour ordeal resulted in a significant financial loss of $1.6 million in Bitcoin. A suspect from Hong Kong has been sentenced to seven years in prison for his role, admitting he was paid $50,000 Canadian dollars for the crime. The other three suspects remain at large. Police have warned that as cryptocurrency investors become targeted by organized crime groups, similar incidents may continue to occur.
