U.S. Retail Sales Growth Slows in September

Despite recent robust growth, U.S. retail sales saw a slower pace in September, according to data released on Tuesday. With a 0.2% increase from August, the month’s growth fell short of economists’ expectations of a 0.4% rise. This slowdown could be attributed to consumer demand for electric vehicles before tax credits expired at the end of September. Economists, however, remain optimistic about a rebound in consumer spending during the third quarter despite this recent slowdown.
