A new lawsuit accuses cryptocurrency exchange Binance and its CEO, Changpeng Zhao, of enabling terrorist organizations to fund their activities using cryptocurrencies. The plaintiffs, many who lost loved ones in the recent Hamas attacks on Israel, claim that Binance facilitated over $1 billion worth of transactions for Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. They argue that Binance knowingly provided this infrastructure to these groups, despite the company’s public claims about compliance with international regulations. 306 Americans filed the complaint against Binance and Zhao. Zhao previously pleaded guilty to money laundering charges and was pardoned by former President Donald Trump, but remains accused of failing to stop illegal activity on his platform.
