Major Banks Warned of Potential Data Breach by SitusAMC

A cyberattack against technology provider SitusAMC has triggered a wave of concern for major financial institutions, as the company announced a potential data breach involving their clients’ information. Odaily reports that JPMorgan Chase, Citibank, and Morgan Stanley have been notified by SitusAMC, who confirmed they were targeted in an attack on November 12th. The compromised data encompasses residential mortgage loans. SitusAMC CEO Michael Franco disclosed that law enforcement was informed about the breach, and authorities are actively assessing potentially affected data. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that his agency is collaborating closely with impacted organizations to determine the scope of the breach, although there’s no evidence of operational disruptions to banking services as of yet. A spokesperson for JPMorgan Chase clarified they were not directly impacted by the attack; however, SitusAMC holds extensive personal data from loan applications, including sensitive information like social security numbers. Moreover, due to its regulatory compliance service work, they may possess sensitive internal data regarding banks’ real estate asset holdings and associated risks.
