India Launches First Government-Backed Stablecoin to Counter Dollar Threat

India is taking a bold step towards protecting its monetary system by launching its first fully collateralized rupee-backed stablecoin, the Asset Reserve Certificate (ARC), ahead of a planned 2026 debut. The initiative aims to ensure domestic capital doesn’t flow into dollar-dominated digital assets that pose a threat to emerging market banking systems.
