The foundation of the Bitcoin blockchain, Bitcoin Core, has just completed its first public third-party security audit. The four-month review by cybersecurity firm Quarkslab, which included a combination of static analysis and dynamic testing, determined that no critical, high, or medium-level security issues were found. This underscores the robustness and reliability of Bitcoin’s underlying code. 🤝 The audit was supported by Brink (a nonprofit for Bitcoin developers) and coordinated by the Open Source Technology Improvement Fund (OSTIF). These organizations worked to ensure an impartial assessment from respected experts in open-source security, guaranteeing a thorough evaluation of Bitcoin Core’s security mechanisms.
