U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Jack Reed have urged the Department of Justice and the Treasury to launch an investigation into World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a crypto company with close ties to President Donald Trump’s family. The senators contend that WLFI has sold tokens linked to individuals associated with North Korea, Russia, and other illicit actors. Their request comes in light of allegations from a September 2025 report by Accountable, alleging wallets tied to North Korean hackers, sanctioned Russian entities, and users of the cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash bought $WLFI tokens. The senators cite this connection as a potential national security threat. They also highlight concerns about potential conflicts of interest stemming from Trump’s financial ties to the project, including a significant amount of WLFI tokens held by his associates.
