While no refund request has been made, CZ stated that he would consider reinvesting any potential refunds in the United States as a gesture of appreciation for cooperation with American regulators. The fine stemmed from a broad investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, leading to a historic $4.3 billion settlement between Binance and CZ in 2023. As part of the agreement, CZ stepped down as CEO.
