US Targets North Korean Crypto Schemes, Seizing Millions

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has taken a decisive step in combating North Korea’s illicit financial activities by targeting cryptocurrency schemes. Five individuals have been charged for aiding North Korean military hackers in infiltrating 136 US companies and laundering over $2.2 million in illicit funds. The DOJ also initiated forfeiture proceedings to recover approximately $15 million seized from the notorious APT38 hacking group, responsible for major crypto theft from global exchanges. These actions highlight a growing trend of combating international cybercrime and its financial underpinnings.
