French Judge Drops Travel Restrictions on Telegram CEO, Ending 15-Month Wait

A French judge has lifted all restrictions imposed on Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of Telegram. This marks the end of his 15-month travel ban and mandatory police check-ins following his arrest in August 2024. Durov can now freely leave France without prior authorization for travel and no longer needs to report periodically to a police station in Nice. The charges that initially led to these restrictions were dropped after a French investigating judge deemed the accusations unfounded.
